Engineer by trade. Maker by nature.

Portrait of Yusuf Habibillah Akbar

Hi, I’m Yusuf—a senior backend engineer based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

I build software that helps people do meaningful work with less friction. I’m especially drawn to the hidden architecture of a product: the systems, decisions, and careful details that make an experience feel effortless.

My path has taken me from leading IT at an education nonprofit to building messaging services for a US-based company. Along the way, I’ve shipped internal platforms, public-facing products, and experiments of my own.

Outside work, I keep making things. Sometimes that means exploring a product idea; other times it means cycling, learning a new tool, or refining the tiny corner of the internet you’re looking at now.

How I work

01

Make it understandable

Clarity is a feature. Good systems should be explainable to the people who rely on them.

02

Respect the real workflow

The best technical answer starts with how people actually work—not how a diagram says they should.

03

Care after launch

Shipping matters, but durability, maintenance, and the next person reading the code matter too.
